Why We Exist
Cub Scouting exists to build character in young people. In a world of screens and structured activities, it offers something different: authentic adventures where children discover their capabilities, connect with nature, and develop the values that shape good citizens and future leaders.
Our mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law, fostering a sense of community and service, and creating opportunities for growth through age-appropriate challenges and achievements.
We believe every child deserves the chance to explore their world, build confidence through achievement, and learn the joy of helping others. Through purposeful fun and guided discovery, we're creating not just better Scouts, but better people.
Why Pack 43
Pack 43 is chartered by VFW Post 5587, a partnership that gives our families a home base and a community of support.
Our leadership comes from our own parent volunteers, and we welcome families from all backgrounds — every child is welcome here.

Cub Scout Motto & Slogan
Our Motto: "Do Your Best"
These three simple words guide everything we do in Cub Scouting. We don't expect perfection — we encourage each Scout to set their own personal goals and then give 100% effort toward achieving them.
Our Slogan: "Do a Good Turn Daily"
This reminds Scouts to do at least one act of service each day, developing the habit of thinking about others first and creating a lifetime pattern of service and citizenship.
The Outdoor Code
As an American, I will do my best to —
- Be clean in my outdoor manners. A Cub Scout takes care of the outdoors and keeps it clean.
- Be careful with fire. A Cub Scout may enjoy a campfire only with adult leaders and knows not to play with matches.
- Be considerate in the outdoors. A Cub Scout shares outdoor places and treats everything with respect.
- Be conservation-minded. A Cub Scout works to restore the health of the land for others to enjoy.
Leave No Trace Principles
Cub Scouts learn to enjoy and protect our natural world through these seven principles:
1. Plan Ahead and Prepare
Proper planning ensures safe adventures and minimizes impact on natural areas.
2. Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces
Stay on established trails and campsites to protect fragile areas from damage.
3. Dispose of Waste Properly
"Pack it in, pack it out" — leave no trash behind and handle waste responsibly.
4. Leave What You Find
Preserve nature's discoveries for others by leaving rocks, plants, and artifacts as found.
5. Minimize Campfire Impacts
Use established fire rings, keep fires small, and consider alternatives like stoves.
6. Respect Wildlife
Observe from a distance, never feed animals, and protect wildlife and their homes.
7. Be Considerate of Other Visitors
Respect others and protect the quality of their experience through courtesy and quiet.
Join Our Adventure
We welcome all children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Our volunteer-led program provides age-appropriate activities that build character, foster citizenship, and develop physical and mental fitness — all while having fun and making memories that last a lifetime.
